Vienna is the capital of Austria with a population of about two and a half million people, the birthplace of Johann Strauss, the place of success of Mozart, the inspiration of Schubert, Brahms, Beethoven - in other words, a city with the title of the cultural and musical capital of Europe.

The capital of Austria is located on both banks of the Danube, and initially the city was formed on the south coast. It is surrounded by oak and beech groves - the famous Vienna Forest, which is also called the "green lungs" of the Austrian capital.

The first settlements on the site of present Vienna appeared in the Neolithic era, but the official countdown of the history of the city as a settlement has been going on since the 1st century A.D. and an outpost built by the Romans with the name Windobona, to which dwellings were gradually attached. Currently, the historical center of the city is located on the site of the outpost. Vindobona was abandoned by the Romans in the 5th century. The next significant stage in the history of this territory began in the 9th century, when representatives of the Frankish royal Carolingian dynasty built a castle and the church of Rupertskirche here, which is today the oldest in Vienna. Vienna was conquered by the Hungarians at the end of the 15th century; at the beginning of the 16th century it was besieged by the Turks. After two serious defeats that the Ottoman forces suffered at the walls of Vienna, the Ottoman Empire tempered its aggressive ambitions, and this marked the beginning of its decline.

The heyday of cultural, musical life in Vienna - the era of the XIX century. Before World War I, Vienna was one of the largest cities in the world after the capitals of England, the USA and France. Currently, it occupies one of the leading places in the ranking of cities in the world in terms of quality of life - Vienna is recognized as one of the most comfortable cities for living.

Any time of the year may be the best time to travel to Vienna. Mild weather with frosts of -12 degrees and proximity to the Alpine ski resorts, Christmas markets, performances and concerts make the capital of Austria attractive in winter. February is the time of the famous ball at the Vienna Opera.

In the spring, the streets of Vienna are decorated for Easter, and the weather at this time of the year is changeable: from heat to frost. Summer here is not too hot (average air temperature +26), bad weather is rare, but on the streets and squares open-air music festivals take place. A summer vacation in Austria is good for alternating: a cultural tour of Vienna is followed by a vacation in the Alps. Autumn in Vienna is not too rainy, especially in October - it is advised to plan an autumn trip to the Austrian capital for this month.скачать dle 11.0фильмы бесплатно
